We’ve been privileged to call Montana home for officially two months now, although it feels like just yesterday that we pulled into the dusty gravel driveway that leads to our little one bedroom apartment on Flathead Lake. I took a break from the blog for the majority of our first weeks here as we were settling into our apartment, and wanted to be fully immersed in our 12 week ministry training (Discipleship Training School) to help better prepare us for our work with 100 Fold Studio.
They call Montana “Big Sky Country” and it certainly has lived up to its name, as the seemingly endless sky lights up with some of the most incredible colors you’ve ever seen. Every morning we wake up and each night before we go to sleep, we marvel at the incredible creation that surrounds us. Lakeside Montana, where we’ve settled, sits on the western side of Flathead lake and looks across its waters at the Swan Range of the Rocky Mountains which reach between 8,000 and 9,000 feet and are often capped with snow.
Our little apartment overlooks the clear blue waters of Flathead Lake, where all of the above pictures were taken. We pray that these views never grow old and that we wouldn’t take for granted the glory displayed in nature that we experience every day.

One of the things we’re most excited about in moving to Montana (besides our work with 100 Fold Studio) was our close proximity to one of the USA's most stunning National Parks, Glacier National Park! As soon as we moved here we bought our season pass, and have visited almost every free weekend possible since then. Unfortunately until now, only a small section of the park from the West entrance has been open, as the main road (called "Going to the Sun Road") that traverses through the park has been closed due to snow and repairs from winter damage.
Although the majority of the park has been closed, and won’t open for another week or two, we’ve explored as many of the trails in West Glacier as we could and have loved every minute of it! Some of our favorite trails so far have been Avalanche Lake, Apgar Lookout, and Snyder Lake, (featured above) all of which still had snow on the trails in late April and all throughout May.
Glacier National Park is an absolute gem, and we are so excited to explore more of it with every opportunity that we have over these next few years. The park's vast landscape provides endless opportunities for its visitors, and in true off the beaten path style, we plan to explore its hidden treasures and share them all with you in hopes to inspire you to get out there and explore, dream, discover.
