Transition. This word can cause so many opposing emotions. Excitement - Worry, Joy - Sadness, Hope - Fear. But this is what we signed up for in taking the road less traveled, choosing to live a life less ordinary, to step out of the norm and seek to use our vocation not to benefit ourselves, but to serve and love others. Sometimes in the midst of transition, it's easy to question the path that you've chosen with opposite emotions pulling your head and heart in different directions. At the end of the day Chris and I take each others hand and walk in faith towards our calling.
Leaving Spain earlier this month was one of the hardest things we have ever had to do. But we walk together in the midst of the sadness of leaving something so amazing with excitement towards our next step. In a few months time, we will be moving to Lakeside Montana to work for an incredible non-profit architectural organization called 100 Fold Studio. 100 Fold Studio trains, equips and sends young architects to demonstrate the love of Jesus by designing buildings that are safe, efficient, and inspiring for non profits and missions organizations both locally and internationally.
Chris will be their third licensed architect, and will play an exciting role in serving with this young non profit. I will work in development and marketing in hopes to spread the word about their work and enhance the impact of their projects. We are planning to spend part of the year at their home office in Lakeside Montana, and part of the year in Battambang, Cambodia where Chris will serve on the team designing one of their largest current international projects; a 13 acre, 30 building site for YWAM called University of the Nations.
I think this transition will be one of many in our lives, and I don't think they get any easier with experience. I think we are called to invest fully and wholeheartedly in each season of life, and that's what we plan to do, live and love with all that we are. I think in the excitement and fear of taking the road less traveled, our lives are richer. Not with money or things, but of joy, love, understanding, and experience, things that can not be stolen or loose their value.
How do you weather transition? Do you invest fully even if you know your circumstances may change?
