One of our favorite things to do in all the world, is strap on our skis and snowboard and spend quality time together "shredding" some powder! Chris skis and I snowboard, and we do our best each season to get out as much as we possibly can.
We weren't sure what to expect here in Spain when it comes to skiing options, but were pleasantly surprised to find out that Barcelona is somewhat of a ski town. A two hour drive north brings you to the tiny country of Andorra (in between Spain and France) where the peaks of Pyrenees Mountains rise to over 8,000 feet. Although temperatures in Barcelona during the winter months average about 50 degree F, we decided to head north for some cooler temperatures and two awesome weekends of skiing with some friends.
The ski resorts of Soldeu (Andorra) and Porte Puymorens (France), were well above the tree line and offered us lots of fresh powder and back country to explore. We would have liked to spend the whole winter exploring these beautiful mountains, but skiing is an expensive sport so our two short trips will have to suffice until next season.
